Following agreement of the States Assembly to establish a Board of independent directors for Health and Community Services Department, the Minister for Health and Social Services is seeking to appoint both a substantive Chair and a Jersey resident non-executive director.
The substantive Chair will succeed Professor Hugo Mascie-Taylor, who was appointed in November 2022 on a 12-month contract to oversee establishment of the Board. The Chair will typically work up to three days per week.
A resident non-executive director is also being sought to ensure that the Board includes an independent member with personal knowledge of the Island community and its health and care system, in addition to board-level experience. The Jersey resident non-executive director will be required to work up to 36 days per year.
Deputy Karen Wilson said: "Earlier this year we started the recruitment process for up to five non-executive directors for the HCS Board. I am pleased for Islanders that we have attracted interest from a very strong field of candidates. We are in the final stages of our recruitment process to appoint a substantive Chair and the remaining NED role.
"Given the high calibre of applicants in the first round we will now undertake a further round of recruitment for the NED role, with the support of the Jersey Appointments Commission, to ensure that at least one non-executive Board member is currently resident in Jersey, in addition to those executive members of the HCS leadership team who are all Jersey residents".
