Islanders will be able to enjoy watching the knock-out stages of the UEFA Euro 2024 competition at
a family-friendly zone in Howard Davis Park.
All the matches from Saturday 29 June will be broadcast on a giant screen in the public park,
subject to the kind permission of The Bailiff. The events will be alcohol free, but people will be able
to bring in food and non-alcoholic drink.
Matches will start at 5pm and 8pm, and Islanders will be able to go into the area 45 minutes before
kick-off. All matches will be free to watch on the screen, and only those games expected to attract
large crowds will be ticketed. The free tickets will be available from gov.je/events.
The Minister with responsibility for sport, Connétable Andy Jehan, said: “The Government of Jersey
and the Jersey Football Association have worked together to enable this important event in the
sporting calendar to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
“We want to create an environment where everyone can enjoy the thrill of the Euros, no matter
who they support. Hopefully the pubs and bars will be packed, and this is an additional alternative
which will be more family orientated, and will have a vibrant and exciting atmosphere.”
Jimmy Kelly, Chair of Jersey FA Board of Directors, said: “This is an excellent initiative that will
showcase the diverse population of our Island, as well as capturing the impact that a major sports
event can have on the Jersey community.
“Football is accessible to everyone and is an inclusive sport to bring people together. If previous
international football competitions are anything to go by, we expect a significant increase in the
number of people wanting to play, and we hope that this event will inspire Islanders in the same
way.”
