Following the resignation of Deputy Tom Binet as Minister for Infrastructure, the Chief Minister is temporarily discharging the functions of the Minister in accordance with the States of Jersey Law.
During this period, Deputy Steve Ahier and Deputy Lucy Stephenson will continue to act as Assistant Ministers for Infrastructure. Deputy Ahier has been delegated all responsibilities of the Minister, and in practice will undertake the ministerial functions on a day-to-day basis. Deputy Stephenson retains her previous responsibilities for sports facilities.
The Chief Minister intends to nominate Deputy Ahier for appointment by the States Assembly as the new Minister for Infrastructure. The appointment process will take place at the 16 January States sitting subject to the vote of no confidence in the Chief Minister being rejected.
