After working through the night, Island Energy's engineers located the gas leak which had led to the evacuation of Le Clos Mourant, St Clement, last night.
Work to repair it began immediately and has now been completed.
Since locating the leak, and as part of the usual safety checks, small pockets of residual gas have been detected in low-lying areas. These will be assessed further, and the areas ventilated to ensure no gas is present, before residents can reoccupy their homes.
Our emergency response groups endeavour to keep Islanders safe and will not recommend returning home until it is safe to do so.
The Government of Jersey, Andium, Island Energy Group and the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding during this disruption.
