12 July 2024
There are a number of Road Closures and parking suspensions in place around St Helier to
accommodate the visit of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen on Monday 15
July.
Road Closures
To ensure the safety of those setting up for and attending the Event, all roads adjacent to
the Royal Square, Weighbridge Place and Liberation Square will be closed between 6.00
and 18.00 on 15 July 2024. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane of the Esplanade
and La Route de la Liberation during the day. The tunnel will remain open for the majority of
the day to maintain movement of traffic, but for operational reasons there will be a tunnel
closure by the police for approximately one hour in the afternoon. All normal traffic will be
diverted to Mount Bingham at this time.
St Aubin’s Road will be closed from 12.00 to facilitate the safe operation of the events at
People's Park until such time as the road is clear of the Royal Party and General Public.
The Roads around the Parade will be closed from 11.00 to allow members of the Public
visiting the “family zone” at the Don Monument to do so safely.
The closures will be managed by the St Helier Honorary Police. We ask those driving around
St Helier on 15 July to be patient and allow extra time for journeys.
On-Street Parking
On-Street Parking is suspended from 18.00 on Saturday 13 July at: People’s Park, St Aubin’s
Road, Cheapside, The Parade (excluding emergency parking), Charing Cross, Broad Street,
New Street, Library Place, The Weighbridge, The Esplanade, Pier Road Grenville Street and
the New North Quay.
Disabled Parking
In addition to the usual provision of floors 1 and 2, floor 3 of Sand Street has been allocated
as additional Disabled Parking.
Bus Station
On Monday 15 July there will be a temporary Bus Station operating from the Esplanade
from 10.00. There will be staff from Liberty Bus and signage to guide Islanders in the right
direction.
Taxi Ranks
There will be two temporary taxi ranks in place as Library Place and the Weighbridge are
closed. They will be located at the Steam Clock and on Grenville Street.
Access to the Hospital
Emergency access to the Hospital will be maintained throughout. Patriotic Street Car Park
can be accessed via the Esplanade or from Gloucester Street.
