Rouge Bouillon update

02 January 2025

Following a burst water main near the bottom of La Pouquelaye on 18 December, the affected building in the area has been vacated and continues to be monitored closely by building surveyors on behalf of property owners, as it is considered unsafe due to a risk of building collapse.

Until the building is considered safe and a course of action has been agreed by all parties involved, Rouge Bouillon (between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road) will remain closed until further notice.

The Government of Jersey continues to liaise with the property owners and their insurers, and are seeking a resolution to ensure the road can reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Diversions remain in place and pedestrian and residential access has been established to the lower parts of La Pouquelaye. Clarendon Road remains open southbound towards town.

Schools in the area will open as normal on Monday 6 January, and parents are advised to check Parentmail for further updates as schools go back. We would like to reassure parents that school buildings have not been affected.

Motorists are also recommended to allow extra time for their journey as delays are expected.

I&E will provide a further update on the situation on Thursday 9 January.
