Door Registration Scheme (Licensing of door security staff)

​About the Door Registration Scheme

The Door Registration Scheme is recognised by the Licensing Assembly for the licensing of door security staff in Jersey.

Liquor licences (other than off-licences) can only employ door security staff if they're authorised by the Justice and Home Affairs Department (JHA). Door security staff who are registered on the scheme must be able to show their badge when requested.

Registration to the scheme is valid for a period of 2 years, after this period the registration must be renewed.

Who can apply for a new registration or renewal

New registration

In order to apply for the scheme you must have:

  • a basic DBS or Disclosure Scotland basic check
  • valid photographic ID (passport or a​ driving license)
  • a passport photo taken in the past 3 months 
  • a First Aid Qualification; the qualification must be an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent. Online qualifications are not accepted.
  • have a certificate awarded to you by a trainer or training provider who is registered to train from one of the below awarding bodies:
    • Security Industry Authority
    • British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB)
    • Highfield Qualifications
    • Laser Learning Awards
    • National Open College Network (NOCN)
    • Pearson
    • Qualifications Network (QNUK)
    • SFJ Awards

The certificate must be a Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry or equivalent.

Or have:
  • Current Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 from one of the following awarding bodies:
    • Security Industry Authority
    • British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB)

Renewal

If you have previously been registered with Government of Jersey Door Registration Scheme and it has been less than 3 years since your registration expired you can apply for a renewal.

You must have:

  • a First Aid Qualification. The qualification must be an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent. Online qualifications are not accepted
  • one of the following: 
    • Current Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top up)
    • Current Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top up) or equivalent

Awarded no more than 3 months before the renewal date by a trainer or training provider approved by JHA who is registered to train from one of the awarding bodies listed above.

If it has been more than 3 years since your registration expired, a new current qualification (see above) will be needed before you can apply for registration.​

  • Photo ID (passport or driving license)
  • Training Certificates
  • DBS or Disclosure Scotland
  • Passport Photo

Your registration may be rescinded.​
