Why should my employees be trained?
The hazards from fire can pose a significant threat to your business. Every year many people are injured by fires that occur in the workplace - and the financial costs of a fire can be equally devastating. Annually, the cost to business through fire runs to many millions of pounds, and companies are all too often unable to recover from its catastrophic effects.
Risks to employees and the workplace can be reduced if your employees are aware of their responsibility to promptly report fire related hazards, and know what action to take if there is a fire.
Jersey Fire and Rescue provides quality fire safety training which is specifically designed to help you and your employees meet your obligations within current legislation, such as Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989 and the Fire Precautions (Jersey) Law 1977.

Course delivery
All of our courses are delivered by serving or retired firefighters, who have a professional understanding of fire development, risk assessment and risk management. By using professional firefighters, real-life experiences can be used as examples for discussion.
Our courses are supported by the Jersey Safety Council.

Course location
Our courses are held at our Western Fire Station. Utilising our operational On Call fire station really adds to the authenticity of the fire safety training. It also enables us to make use of some of our unique training facilities, such as our specially designed training suite. Whilst parking is available on site, space is limited.
We can accept a minimum number of eight people per course, and a maximum of 18.
If you would prefer to hold a complete course for your employees alone and want to keep them on site at your workplace, we can deliver our training courses at your business location. You will need to provide a training room and refreshments. Our fire extinguishers course requires an external area the size of approximately three parking spaces.
We can also provide bespoke fire marshal courses depending on your requirements. Contact us to discuss this in further detail. Additional costs may be incurred for preparation of bespoke courses.
We regret that our Western Fire Station building is not accessible to people who use wheelchairs.
