Our commemorative coins recognise important events, periods or people. 

We only produce a limited amount and they’re only available for a limited time. 

We issue commemorative coins:

  • to promote the Island
  • for worldwide collectors
  • to generate income for the States of Jersey

​Commemorative coins for 2025

During 2025 we're issuing the following commemorative coins:

The 80th Anniversary of VE Day one-off £5, 50p Set 

To mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day which took place on 8th May 1945, the Westminster Collection will issue the five 50p coins which will reflect on the effect of the war on civilians.

The collection will be split between Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Each country will issue five 50p coins, a total collection of 15 coins.

A one-off coin will be also issued as a traditional £5 coin in various specifications.

200th Anniversary of the Reconstruction of Buckingham Palace: 50p Coin Set

​2025 marks 200 years since King George IV commissioned architect John Nash to transform Buckingham House into a grand palace.

The issue of five 50p coins will be circulated in February featuring different Royal Residences.

Launch: February

400th Anniversary of the Accession of Charles I £5 Coin 

2025 marks 400 years since the accession of Charles I.

He is significant in British history for his role in triggering the English Civil War, his defiance of parliamentary authority, his execution, and the profound impact these events had on the constitutional and political development of England.

A one-off coin will be issued as a traditional £5 coin in various specifications.

200th Anniversary of the Publication of Samuel Pepys’ Diary: £2 Coin Set

Samuel Pepys’ Diary is an invaluable historical document that provides a detailed account of life in 17th century Britain. The diary records many significant events that happened at the time.

A set of four £2 coins will be issued featuring the historical events of:

  • the Great Fire of London
  • the Great Plague
  • the Restoration of the Monarchy

The final design will feature Samuel Pepys writing in his diary.

350th Anniversary of St Paul’s Cathedral 50p Coin Set

The original medieval St Paul’s Cathedral was largely destroyed in the Great Fire of London. Following the fire, Sir Christopher Wren was commissioned to re-design the cathedral.

The first stone was laid 350 years ago in 2025. A set of 50p coins will be issued to mark this anniversary. The set will feature five famous cathedrals of Britain.

75th Birthday of The Princess Royal, Princess Anne: one-off £5 

2025 marks the 75th birthday of Princess Anne, The Princess Royal.

She is the sister of His Majesty King Charles III. She is known for being very hard working, and is very keen on equestrianism.

A one-off £5 coin will be issued to mark her 75th birthday.

Heritage Breeds - Horses: £2 Coin Set

Britain is home to some of the most beautiful horse breeds in the world. They have changed the course of human history by helping advance travel, warfare and agriculture and are now kept mainly for recreational purposes.

Because of their importance to British culture, a £2 coin set will be issued featuring various British horse breeds.

The 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain one-off £5 and 50p Set

The Battle of Britain was the successful defence of Great Britain against the air raids conducted by the German air force. The victory blocked the possibility of invasion by the German army and created conditions for Britain’s survival and eventual defeat of Nazi Germany.

To mark the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which took place between 10 July and 31 October 1940, will be issued the five 50p coins which will form part of a collection telling the story of the Battle of Britain.

The collection will be split between Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Each country will issue five 50p coins, a total collection of 15 coins.

A one-off coin also will be issued as a traditional £5 coin in various specifications.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Pound Coin

2025 marks the annual anniversary of Remembrance. The Royal British Legion, founded on 15 May 1921, is a British charity which provides financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the UK Armed Forces, their families and dependents. The charity was awarded Royal Charter in 1925 and is an integral part of British culture, helping thousands of servicemen and women and families around the country.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2. It is especially important to honour:

  • the bravery of the soldiers who fought
  • the civilians who endured
  • the countless lives lost

It’s a time to reflect on the cost of freedom, celebrate the triumph of the Allied forces, and ensure the lessons learnt continue to resonate through generations.

​The first commemorative 12-sided pound coin to be issued by Jersey. It is also the first Poppy pound coin ever.​​​

The Royal British Legion Poppy coins: one-off £5 Coin and Masterpiece

The Westminster Collection will issue of the annual Jersey Poppy coins to continue endorsed by The Royal British Legion to coincide with Remembrance Day in November.

British Folklore: 50p Coin Set

British folklore consists of myths and legends that have been passed down through generations, originally through oral tradition, and then through written word. A 5x50p set will be issued featuring renowned folklore from Britain including 1 from Jersey.
