Driving licence categories
You need a driving licence to use a motor vehicle in a public place or road.
The category depends on the type of vehicle you use. There is a different minimum age for each category.
You can add categories to your driving licence. You’ll need to take the practical driving test in a vehicle that meets the vehicle description below and the requirements of the
vehicles you can use for your practical test.
Licence category A and p

You need a category E to tow trailers over 750kg.
