Role and purpose of the committee
The Children’s Outcomes Executive Committee (COEC) was formed in March 2023 following a number of engagement workshops which reviewed the Children’s Strategic Leadership (CSLB) and Children’s Strategic Partnership Boards (CSPB). The Committee is replacing these two previous boards.
The COEC will lead on cross-Government policy development and oversee the development of a revised Children and Families’ Plan for 2024 to 2027. The committee will meet every term to help realign outcomes across the Governmental work.
The committee will provide a clear, strategic organising framework for the Government of Jersey’s responsibility to children, young people and families.
The voice of children and young people will contribute to the committee through established routes such as:
- the Youth Parliament
- School Councils
- care experienced children and young people
- Best Start Partnership
COEC focus will be on:
- improving outcomes to make our Island the best possible place for children, young people and their families to study, play, grow and thrive
- overseeing a revised Children and Young People Plan for 2024 to 2027
- holding high expectations for all children and young people in Jersey
- working in partnership with other established Ministerial Groups where there is a focus on children and young people
