In 2017, the States Assembly adopted the Referendum (Jersey) Law which established the Referendum Commission to oversee referendums. The Privileges and Procedures Committee is seeking applications for a new Chair of the Referendum Commission following expiry of the former Chair's term of office. 

The Commission consists of a Chair and four other commissioners. The appointments are not remunerated. Candidates will have a successful, board-level or equivalent, track record within the public, private or not-for-profit sectors that demonstrates experience of: 

  • chairing meetings effectively and undertaking media and ambassadorial work 
  • building and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders  
  • handling conflicts of interest, and 
  • working effectively with politicians and influencing people at the highest level
