Relief Coroner Expressions of Interest

​The Jersey Court Service seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons who would like to be considered for the position of Relief Coroner (Medical).

The rôle of the Relief Coroner is to assist the Deputy Viscount in the conduct of coronial matters.  Principal duties include the provision of cover for the Deputy Viscount during annual leave, other work commitments and some weekends.  This is an honorary position by authorisation of the Viscount (subject to approval of the Bailiff) for which an honorarium is paid. The Relief Coroner is bound by the Code of Conduct of Jersey’s Judiciary. The appointment may especially suit a retired Medical Practitioner with legal knowledge or possibly a retired lawyer with medical knowledge.  Training and induction will be provided.
