The Rates List for St Mary may be inspected at the Parish Hall during the usual opening hours from Wednesday 15 May 2024 to Friday 17 May 2024. It is also available on the Parish website at www.stmary.je.

The Assessors will be in attendance at the Parish Hall on the following dates to answer any queries relating to the assessments:

  • Wednesday 15 May 2024, 2pm to 4pm
  • Thursday 16 May 2024, 6pm to 8pm

A formal application may be made to the Assessment Committee for a review of the rateable value of any land shown on the Rates List.

An application for a Review must:

  • be submitted on the approved form available from the Parish Hall or online at https://stmary.je/about-rates/
  • provide details of other land in the Island with similar attributes where there is a significant difference (10% of the Rateable Value of the land in question or 500 rateable quarters whichever is the greater) if requesting a Review of the Rateable Value 
  • provide details of the current use of the property if requesting a Review of the assessment of domestic or non-domestic rates
  • be made on or before Friday 17 May 2024 to the Assessment Committee at the Parish Hall

An appeal against a draft assessment may only be made after a Review has been undertaken.

Notice is also given that in accordance with Article 11(4) of the Rates (Jersey) Law 2005 that once the Rates List has been approved by the Supervisory Committee it becomes the Rates List of the Parish for that rateable year.
