About the consultation
The Government of Jersey is currently reviewing the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme. Reforms are being considered to improve the scheme and the review will help to inform this work.
As part of the review, the Government has launched a consultation to understand the experiences of those who have used the scheme.
You can take part in this consultation if you have used the scheme in the past, even if you received compensation or not.
We're interested in hearing about your experiences and views about the following aspects of the scheme:
- the application and appeals process
- compensation limits. There's currently a minimum compensation amount of £1,000 and a maximum of £100,000
- the 3-year rule. Exceptional applications are sometimes allowed when they are not made within the required 3 years of the harm occurring or when the victim turns 18 years old
- application support from victims’ support organisations and legal professionals
- court ordered compensation, which can affect CICS applications
- awareness about the scheme and how applicants are informed about it
