Official notices (Jersey Gazette)

​For more than 55 years, official public and parish notices and other matters of public interest have been published in The Jersey Gazette.

What are Jersey Gazette notices?

Jersey Gazette notices are official public notices that are currently published in the Jersey Evening Post (JEP). We've been publishing official information online as well for more than a year. 

The States Assembly has now agreed to change the law to move the official Jersey Gazette permanently online, where the information will be freely available to the public and to all media organisations. 

This means any media organisation, including the JEP, will be able to print official notices in their publication if they choose to.

Why we proposed to move the Gazette online

For more than 55 years you have had to buy the JEP to read Jersey Gazette notices. Notices cannot be searched for, retrieved or shared easily so we’ve created an online version which is freely available to all.

Benefits of the Gazette being online

This provides:

  • easy access to notices from anywhere in the world
  • a cost saving to the government
  • a consistent layout for the notices
  • email and social media alerts

What’s next?

The new law has now been sanctioned by the Privy Council and registered in Jersey's Royal Court. It will come into force on a date to be agreed by the States Assembly in an Act of the States.

Until then we will continue to publish Gazette notices online as well as in the local newspaper, and staff are being trained to place notices on gov.je.

We realise some people do not have online access, so Gazette notices will be available in print format from the library, parish halls and government buildings for those who do not have online access.
