This information is also available in the Education Department’s Admissions to States Schools Nurseries Policy available at the following link:
Admissions to States Schools Nurseries Policy
The information has been presented in the table above for convenience, however, it is technically exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law as it is already accessible by other means.
B
The Education Department does not hold the comparable information requested about the availability of places in private nurseries for the pre-school year.
Children who are eligible for Nursery Education Fund (NEF) funding, by virtue turning four during that academic year, may access this funding in either sector. Private nurseries have discretion to manage the balance of children of different ages that they admit between their minimum and maximum age range.
Exemptions applied
Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means
(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.
(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
