Please provide details of how the department responsible for drafting laws, regulations etc
a) records time spent on each law, regulation etc
b) records other expenses incurred and apportioned to individual laws, regulations etc
Response
There is no requirement in the Law Draftsman’s office to record time spent on each individual piece of legislation that is drafted in the office as the office is not funded on that basis. Some or all of the time spent on drafting is sometimes recorded for internal management purposes, for example, to help in timetabling future work but not for allocating costs attributable to individual pieces of legislation.
The Law Draftsman’s office holds no other information concerning expenses incurred and apportioned to individual pieces of legislation by other departments and does not incur any such expenses itself.
