Censure vote against Deputy Lewis: Costs (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey on behalf of the States Greffe and published on 08 September 2017.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

Since today's announcement by the Privileges and Procedures Committee (18 August 2017) that Deputy Andrew Lewis is to face a Vote of Censure, can you please advise how much this entire exercise has cost the Tax Payer since the Jersey Care Inquiry released its report in early July? Including costed time and expenses such as the Public Meeting held at St Paul's Gate on 1 August 2017.

Response

The costs associated with the public meeting of the Privileges and Procedures Committee in relation to the investigation of an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Elected Members by Deputy Andrew Lewis are detailed below:

Hire of Room: £225.00
Set-up of electronic recording equipment £186.31
Transcription of audio recording £175.00
Total £586.31

Other administrative costs (for example the preparation and printing of agendas) associated with this investigation form part of the ‘business as usual’ administrative duties of the States Greffe in supporting the work of the Privileges and Procedures Committee and cannot be separately identified.

This response has been issued on behalf of the States Greffe. The States Greffe is responsible for the information held by (and on behalf of) both itself and the States Assembly.  Neither the States Assembly nor the States Greffe form part of the Government of Jersey and the Government was not involved either in the examination and retrieval of any information required for this response, nor in the drafting of the response itself.
