A
In order to remain within the ‘cost limit’ as detailed in the Regulations to the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, HM Prison La Moye has only been able to provide data for the last five years. A snapshot as at the 15 August was taken for each year starting from 2013 to 2017. The data includes all remand and convicted prisoners on that date.

B
The States of Jersey Prison Service has two chaplains. Both chaplains are part-time and work for 20 hours a week. They benefit from the support of volunteers from Elim Rock Church, Cornerstone and Freedom for Life Ministries.
One of the chaplains has particular responsibility for those prisoners who register as Roman Catholic - currently these account for 45% of the prison population. The other chaplain has specific responsibility for those registered with other Christian churches, eg Church of England and Methodist, currently accounting for 24% of the prison population.
However both chaplains have a duty to support the spiritual needs of all within the prison with respect to those of no and all other faiths. Obviously this will necessitate the development of links with other faith communities and their representatives in order to provide practical religious and spiritual guidance, depending upon the religious make-up of the prison population at any particular time. At this moment in time such links are very active with the local Muslim community in order to provide the appropriate support for those registered as Muslim, currently 2% of the prison population
Exemptions applied
Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive
(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
(2) Despite paragraph (1), a scheduled public authority may still supply the information requested on payment to it of a fee determined by the authority in the manner prescribed by Regulations for the purposes of this Article.
(3) Regulations may provide that, in such circumstances as the Regulations prescribe, if two or more requests for information are made to a scheduled public authority –
(a) by one person; or
(b) by different persons who appear to the scheduled public authority to be acting in
concert or in pursuance of a campaign, the estimated cost of complying with any of the requests is to be taken to be the estimated total cost of complying with all of them.
Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
