Authored by States of Jersey and published on 21 December 2017.

Request

Our request relates to the calendar year, 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 and the recruitment of nurses that are directly employed by the Jersey General, Overdale and St Saviour's Hospitals.

Please provide us with the following information:

A

The total number of nurses recruited

B

The total cost of recruiting the nurses

C

The total number of nurses recruited using a recruitment agency

D

The total cost of recruiting the nurses using recruitment agencies

Response

A

HospitalNurses recruited in 2016
General27
Overdale<5
St Saviour's<5

Please note that due to the small numbers represented above for Overdale and St Saviour's Hospitals, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied and the number of recruited staff is shown as fewer than 5 (<5). This is to protect the privacy of individuals.

B

The total cost of recruiting nurses across the whole of Health and Social Services, of which Jersey General Hospital is part, in 2016, was £97,474.

C and D

All nurses that have been recruited for Jersey General Hospital in 2016 were recruited on a permanent basis, and these recruitments were processed through the States of Jersey Human Resources function.

Therefore no recruitment agencies were involved in the process and no recruitment agency costs were incurred.
