Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 23 February 2018.

Request

With reference to the current remedial building work being undertaken at the General Hospital –

A

Has a full, detailed assessment been undertaken to deal with the noise and dust pollution generated during this work and any associated risk to patients, staff and visitors?

B

At what stage did the assessment begin and when did they start collecting data?

C

Has this been carried out to UK / EU standards? Could you please provide a copy of this assessment?

D

Could you also please confirm that all safety measures are being fully adhered to?

Response

A

All relevant construction projects, whether minor works or substantial contracts, are fully assessed.

B

All assessments commence at project inception.

C

Assessments are carried out in accordance with local or UK standards as applicable. It is not possible to provide a copy of each assessment as they are specific to particular tasks and remain the property of the originator / contractor and it would exceed 12.5 hours to collate all the information. For this reason the Scheduled Public Authority has determined that this information is exempt under Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

D

Yes, all safety measures are being fully adhered to.

Article applied

Article 16: A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed any fee of an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations for the purposes of Article 15.
