My seven year old son, has asked the following:
A
We can only find air quality data from 2015 online and the daily update has been blank for two days on gov.je
B
There is an airport and garage right next to the new Les Quennevais school site. Is it a good idea?
C
There are big planes and they burn lots of fuel. How safe is the air for my health?'
Response
A
We apologise that the information on the website is currently unavailable, the information is available at the following link:
AirQWeb
B
The States of Jersey monitor air quality across the island, including at the boundary of the airport and next to some petrol stations. The levels of pollutants detected are less than the maximum recommended levels set by the European Union.
We analyse the data provided and this is made available on the States of Jersey website as an annual report. This link takes you to the 2016 report:
Air quality monitoring in Jersey 2016
We expect to receive the 2017 report by the end of August 2018.

Big planes do burn fuel as they take off, but only small levels of pollution are detected. Petrol stations can be a source of pollution, but again the levels detected are too slight to breach EU standards for health.
