Please provide all correspondence that passed between the authorities in Jersey and the Privy Council in London from 16 April 2018 to the date when this request is answered in respect of a petition made by a Jersey resident against the Criminal Procedure (Jersey) Law 2018, which was sanctioned by order of Her Majesty in Council on 11 July 2018.
Please include copies of any reports or other documents that were prepared by the Committee of Council for the Affairs of Jersey and Guernsey in respect of this petition against the Criminal Procedure (Jersey) Law 2018.
Response
The States Greffe holds one item of correspondence, dated 26 April 2018, arising from the fact that the petitioner copied in the Greffe when submitting the petition to the Privy Council. A copy of the correspondence has been attached. Personal details have been redacted from the correspondence in accordance with Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

The Chief Minister’s Department holds no material in respect of this matter.
The Law Officers’ Department is not a scheduled public authority and therefore is not covered by the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
The Committee for the Affairs of Jersey and Guernsey is also not a scheduled public authority in this jurisdiction and any reports or other documents it may have prepared are not covered by the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
Article 25 Personal information
(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.
(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –
(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and
(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
This response has been issued on behalf of the States Greffe. The States Greffe is responsible for the information held by (and on behalf of) both itself and the States Assembly. Neither the States Assembly nor the States Greffe form part of the Government of Jersey and the Government was not involved either in the examination and retrieval of any information required for this response, nor in the drafting of the response itself.
