Response
All cover and limits are the same for States employees, States Members, Ministers of the States and Crown Officers.
A
The States Of Jersey buys liability insurance covers in two ‘layers’ – the first layer (ie the Primary level of £10 million) covers all claims up to £10million per annum and, in the event of this first layer being exhausted by claims during the year, the second layer (ie the excess level, also of £10 million) then responds.
The monetary limit of cover for each policy is therefore £20 million for any one claim and in total.
B
The non-ranking monetary excess for each policy is £10,000 for each and every claim.
C
The monetary amount of self-insurance only applies at primary level and is £250,000 for any one claim, but also capped to £250,000 in any one period of insurance.
