Employment contract of the Director of Education (FOI)

Employment contract of the Director of Education (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 06 September 2018.

Request

In February 2014 it was announced Mr Justin Donovan had been appointed Education Director and would be taking up his appointment in May of that year.

Earlier this year, 2018, it was announced he would “be stepping down from his post after the summer term and retiring, as he feels that he isn’t able to commit to the three or five years that is needed as Director General in the expanded Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department.”

Could you please provide me with the terms and conditions of Mr Donovan’s employment.

Including – but not limited to:

  • How many years the contract was for.

  • His annual pay.

  • What the conditions were if he terminated his contract earlier than agreed.

  • Any payments or benefits he has been given that were/weren’t included in his contract since announcing his departure.

Response

Mr Donovan’s salary is a matter of public record and is detailed within the 2017 annual financial statements which can be viewed at the following link:
