I refer to the presentation made to States Members on the 6th November 2018 by former Senator Stuart Syvret as arranged by Deputy Mike Higgins.

As it is my understanding the contents of Mr Syvret's presentation contained many claims including claims that the States of Jersey Police is run by the MAFIA and the whole of Jersey's Legal System is nothing but a criminal enterprise designed to get at him, I would like to know:

How much this presentation cost the Tax Payer to put on?

What kind of vetting, if any, such presentations are given by the States of Jersey before being allowed to go ahead?

There was no additional cost to the taxpayer. The presentation took place in the States Building and any associated cost of using that venue is included in the running costs of maintaining and administering this venue.

The States Greffe does not vet presentations offered, or arranged, by States members to their colleagues. The States Greffe assists with booking rooms in the States Building and (if requested) helps the organisers by forwarding correspondence to States members in order to advise them of presentations / briefings which are coming up. The States Greffe provided help in both of these ways in respect of the presentation on 6 November 2018.

This response has been issued on behalf of the States Greffe. The States Greffe is responsible for the information held by (and on behalf of) both itself and the States Assembly.  Neither the States Assembly nor the States Greffe form part of the Government of Jersey and the Government was not involved either in the examination and retrieval of any information required for this response, nor in the drafting of the response itself.​​
