Request
A
Please can I request the number of people in Band 1 waiting for housing.
B
Please can I request a breakdown of which housing groups they belong to for example, Andium Homes, CTJ, Jersey Homes Trust and so on, and how many are in each group. Also those needing housing in Band 1 that are in private rental accommodation.
C
Also can I request how many places have been handed over to make living accommodation for Nurses and Teachers in the last year and the number of units you will be removing over the next few years.
Response
A
There are currently 291 active applications in Band 1 waiting for housing.
B
The system used by the Housing Gateway does not allow us to break down transfers by housing provider. The number of applicants in Band 1 currently in Social Housing accommodation is currently 199 and those from Private rentals is currently 92.
C
The former Convent Court in Val Plaisant has been renovated and renamed Plaisant Court. It comprises of a total of 73 homes. At the end of 2018, 48 two-bedroom and studio apartments were made available to enable government to offer good quality temporary homes to short-term, licensed professionals contracted to deliver essential services in Jersey. The remaining homes will be offered to residents moving to facilitate the refurbishment of Hue Court, which is the next high-rise on Andium’s capital programme.
Over the next few years, up to 90 units at Hue Court could be used for Keyworker accommodation although this number could be offset by the re-provision of keyworker (for example Nurses and Teachers) and social housing at the Limes site (formerly the Limes nursing home in Green Street, St Helier).
