Request
A.
Confirmation of number of requests for child income support impairment component post the update to the law allowing for payment to individual assessed as level 2 which came into effect 1 January 2015, to include the number of approved cases and number of rejected cases.
B.
Confirmation of the number of requests for child income support impairment component prior to the update to the law rejected as below level 3; and or rejected due to household income levels.
Response
The child personal care benefit came into force on the 17 September 2014 where care needs were assessed at level 3. The test used to assess care need levels is the same as the one used for the impairment component of Income Support. Child Personal Care benefit was extended to those assessed with level 2 needs from 1 January 2015. This question, has been answered based on that understanding. Zero applications were rejected based on income levels as the award is not based on income levels and is paid to the child regardless of household income if they qualify for the benefit.
