Request
Please could you tell me how many registered social workers there are on the Island that deal with elderly patients?
Response
There are 19 full time equivalent Social Workers employed in Health and Community Services whose duties include working with older people (defined here as people aged 65 or over). This is formed of one based in the Memory Assessment Centre, four based in the Older Adult Mental Health Team and 14 based in the Adult Social Care Team.
It should be noted that the role of case coordinator is not undertaken exclusively by Social Workers, but also by Community Nurses, Therapists, Social Work assistants and Assistant Social Workers.
