Request
Jersey Fire and Rescue Service (JFRS) tender(s) and manpower were used to put up external Christmas decorations at Geyt Flats before Christmas in 2018 and have in the last week returned to take them down again.
Can you tell me who this States funded department were working on behalf of and who has paid for the cost of this? Can you also tell me who has paid for the electricity usage while these decorations were lit up and how those costs have been calculated
Response
The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service gave support to a homeowner as part of the JFRS Community Strategy. This event was to support the Women's Refuge charity at Christmas, where the homeowner collects funds and donates this to the charity.
This was used as a training exercise, which involved ladder usage so that the time taken up was used as normal training time.
No overtime cover was required and the cost to the service was nil. At all times the service provided Island wide cover.
With reference to electricity usage, the Government of Jersey does not hold this information.
Andium Homes may hold this information if the premises in question is one of their properties. If this is the case, a separate FOI request will be required.
