Request
Could you provide me with the following information.
A
How many schools require repair to their buildings currently, both primary and secondary schools?
B
How much money are these planned repair works going to cost?
Response
A
All schools currently need repairs carried out. The majority of repairs relate to general wear, tear and maintenance.
The Minister for Infrastructure’s response to a written question from Deputy R J Ward (WQ 187/2019) provides additional information in relation to this matter and it can be located on www.gov.je using the following link.
Written question from Deputy R J Ward (WQ 187/2019)
An extensive school building inspection is due to be carried out in 2019 which will highlight any additional repair requirements.
B
The table below shows school repair costs for 2018 and 2019. We are only able to provide an estimated figure for 2019 based on the current planned repairs and cannot predict any additional repairs required during the year. Some contractor tenders are still in progress, therefore, an estimated figure has been used.
Please note that any building enhancements such as extensions, refurbishments or reconfigurations, are not included in these figures.
