Disposal of PFOS stocks (FOI)

Ref PFOS.

I have been unable to find out whether any stocks of PFOS remained after its use was discontinued. If so, how were they disposed of?

Response

The Environmental Health and Environmental Protection Sections of Growth, Housing and Environment do not hold any information relating to remaining stocks of PFOS or how previous stocks have been disposed of.

Research to date within the Fire and Rescue Service has so far failed to identify the purchase of foam containing PFOS. Given the seriousness of this issue and on the basis that investigations are ongoing, no evidence can be provided at this stage to confirm or deny such purchases or indeed its disposal (if appropriate).
