Request

Please provide a table showing the number of empty acute beds in the Jersey General Hospital between 1 April and 1 July 2019.

Response

The term used for ‘empty’ beds is not one that is used by the organisation.

The question has been answered using the definition of ‘unoccupied’. That is a bed that is currently unoccupied that is staffed and ready to accept a patient.

Occupancy is measured at 12 midnight. A Bed may have been occupied and become unoccupied in preceding 24 hour period.

The table below gives the total aggregate number of acute beds unoccupied on each area at 12 midnight.
