The Jersey Charities’ Law was passed in November 2014. The register of Jersey Charities opened in May 2018, and all charities wishing to receive tax exemption, and to continue to call themselves a charity must register. Prior to May 2018 there was no requirement for charities to register as charities.

The Government of Jersey may contribute grant funding or subsidies to some of these entities, however this would require cross checking the current register of charities against the Annual Reports of the Government of Jersey, available at the following link:

i) the Jersey Reclaim Fund which can distribute funds transferred under the Dormant Bank Accounts (Jersey) Law 2017 for charitable purposes; and
ii) the Channel Islands Lottery (Jersey) Fund which promotes and conducts public lotteries, the draws, distributing the proceeds to charities.
