Response

The address data are held in a live database table that only holds the most current (ie latest provided) value of a patient address (the postcode would determine the patient’s parish of residence).

The index system used is a live table and only holds the current (ie latest provided) value of a patient address (the postcode would determine the patient’s parish of residence). No information is held on past address values and therefore it is not possible to identify patients by parish for dates in the past.

In addition, if relevant to an admission, the conditions stipulated in this request are coded by the Clinical Coding Team following an inpatient admission. There is a time delay between discharge and coding due to the large volume of admissions and the complexity of the process. It is therefore not possible to give a snapshot of recent inpatient admissions by parish as it is not known whether the patient address has changed since the date of admission.
