Request
The UK has recently announced a strong correlation between poor GCSE grades and poverty with children in poverty twice as likely to fail. What is the correlation between poverty and GCSE results in Jersey? How does Jersey compare to the UK statistics?
Response
The Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) do not record poverty as a measure for pupils in Government of Jersey schools.
As there are no measures in our schools’ data sets of poverty we cannot correlate with individual GCSE results in order to conduct this analysis.
