Request
I would like to know the number of hoax phone calls received by Jersey Fire Service in 2018 and whether there are any predicted stats for 2019?
As a result of these hoax calls, how much of Jersey Fire Service’s time and money is wasted?
Is it possible when looking out the above to show peak times in which hoax calls were made in 2018, and does this follow any patterns set in previous five years (2013-2017)?
Response
The number of recorded Jersey Fire & Rescue Service (JFRS) hoax calls are detailed below:
2018 – 1 x hoax call
2019 (to 19/11/2019) – 2 x hoax calls
JFRS do not specifically record cost to the service associated with hoax calls. However, the cost for the dispatch of a standard fire appliance is £321 per hour.
Due to the small numbers, no peak times are identifiable and no patterns are apparent.
