Request

A

What type / fuel of heating system is used at Gate 3 Bellozanne workshops?

B

How much fuel do they consume on a monthly basis?

C

How much does this fuel cost?

Response

A

A Nu-Way waste oil burner runs the heating system for the Engineering workshops and offices at Gate 3 Bellozanne. This burner heats water in a closed loop system, similar to a domestic system just on a larger scale.

B

The average monthly oil consumption is between 5,000 to 6,000 litres a month. We have provided an average due to seasonal peaks and troughs.

C

The oil burner is fuelled by waste oil which the general public brings to Growth, Housing and Environment (GHE) for disposal, therefore, there is no cost.

A further advantage of GHE’s use of this oil is that we do not incur any charges for the shipping and processing of this waste material off island.
