My question is concerning the General Hospital (only) for three weeks between 1 January 2020 and 21 January 2020.

A

Can you please state how many hospital beds were in use on a daily basis between these dates? Data taken at midnight on these dates please.

B

Can you please state how many operations (including day surgery) were cancelled on a daily basis during this time frame?

C

Can you please tell me what days the hospital was put on Amber alert, and what days the hospital was on Red alert?

D

Can you please tell me how many private beds were in use during this time by private patients?

E

Can you please tell me how many non private patients were admitted to the private ward?

F

Can you please tell me how many private patients were admitted to the general (non private) wards?

The following table shows the number of beds in use in Jersey General Hospital at midnight on each day. For the purposes of clarity “midnight” is taken as the start of each day, so data for 1 January 2020 is overnight between New Year’s Eve and 1 January.

The number of procedures cancelled on each day are as follows. Please note that there are many reasons for cancelling a procedure, including beds unavailable, IT / equipment failure, patient not fit for surgery. The numbers below only include procedures that were cancelled on the day of surgery.

The hospital was on amber alert from the afternoon of 6 January to the morning of 8 January inclusive.

D

Sorel ward (the private ward) has 14 beds. During the three-week period there were between four and 13 beds in use by private patients.

E

During the three-week period there were 17 public patients admitted to Sorel ward.

F

During the three-week period there were eight private patients admitted to general and acute wards (this excludes Day Surgery, Endoscopy day cases, Medical Day Unit, Oncology and the Neutropenic ward).
