Pool hire charges for swimming clubs (FOI)

A previous request on the same topic asked for information relating to charges for swimming clubs to hire swimming pools. The information was provided in a table listing out the respective charges for Les Quennevais, Langford and Haute Vallee swimming pools, as taken from the ESC rate card for swimming pool hire. The applicant then clarified the request to ask for information on the actual amount paid by swimming clubs, rather than just the standard charge.

Response

The 2015 charges for Jersey Swimming Club, Walkers Tigers Swimming Club, Jersey Lifesavers and Jersey Aquatic Rescue Club for hiring ESC swimming pools are detailed in the table below:

Notes to table:

• Jersey Swimming Club and Walkers Tigers Swimming Club make block bookings on an annual basis, as shown in the table. All other users book through our electronic booking system and we have provided the relevant hourly rates for comparison.
  
• Jersey Aquatic Rescue Club hourly charge is inclusive of a 50% discount. The ESC Charging Policy includes a 50% discount for certain users of sports facilities, including non commercial clubs undertaking sport and leisure activities for children 18 years and under. This is applied to clubs using ESC swimming pools where notification has been provided that activities are provided for children aged 18 years and under.
  
• the club rate for use of Langford and Haute Vallee swimming pools by Jersey Swimming Club and Walkers Tigers Swimming Club has historically been set at a fixed rate which recognises the development and high performance work undertaken by these clubs. In recognition of the amount of pool time required for these programmes and the corresponding costs, the hourly rate is set at a lower level.
  
• where a club books a different facility from those indicated above, the relevant rate for that facility is applied (including any relevant discount). A summary of swimming pool charges is included below for reference purposes.
