Request
A
Number of places available in all fee-paying secondary schools in Jersey each year that are available to students from non-fee paying primary schools?
B
Number of students successfully admitted to these fee-paying secondary schools each year from Government of Jersey primary schools?
C
Number or percentage of students at fee-paying secondary schools each year that came directly from their adjoining or “feeder” fee-paying primary schools?
Response
A
All fee-paying secondary schools determine the number of places based on the number of applicants therefore there is no set number of places available to pupils from non fee-paying schools. Admission is determined on the ability to pay fees.
Jersey College for Girls and Victoria College are selective schools therefore admission is determined by academic performance and the ability to pay fees.
B
In the last academic year, 129 pupils transferred to fee-paying secondary schools from Government of Jersey non fee-paying primary schools.
C
The table below represents the number and percentage of Year 7 pupils that joined from their feeder schools.
Although not an official feeder school for Beaulieu and De La Salle, it is recognised that a large number of students from FCJ do attend either of these fee-paying secondary schools. Therefore they have been included in these figures.
