Covid-19 cases at sporting events (FOI)

Please can you advise how many positive COVID cases have been traced to sporting event allowed under the rules?

If possible, please can you advise if any cases have been traced specifically to football.

Response

As data are not collected in an easily analysable format to answer these questions required reading through management summaries of each case. Consequently, the following summary does not necessarily contain all information and may also contain information that is not pertinent to where an individual case contracted their infection.

Number of cases where a sport (including workers at such establishments) is mentioned in the Case Summary: 62

Number of positives where football is mentioned in the Case Summary: 3
