Request
I would like to know which departments are still being permitted to use flexitime within the states and the time frames in which these gave been agreed.
Response
The Flexitime policy was suspended for all areas in response to the pandemic at the end of April 2020 and employees were provided with a five month period to use any remaining flexi leave. The policy has not been reinstated since.
The only department that was given permission to maintain flexitime for a further period was Customer and Local Services and this related in particular to Teams rolling out pandemic related benefits. This exemption was withdrawn at the end of 2020 and no areas are currently entitled to use the Flexitime policy.
However, as an organisation the Government of Jersey promotes flexible working and therefore areas can use 'time off in lieu' and other flexible working arrangements to support teams to meet peaks of demand or individuals to manage a positive work / life balance.
