Between 2012 and 2020 there have been less than 10 admissions to Jersey General Hospital where the primary diagnosis is obesity. Due to the small numbers involved it is not possible to provide a breakdown between each year as it would likely breach the privacy of individuals. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied. It is not possible to look at data further back as 2012 is the first full year of data in this system.

Between 2012 and 2020 there have been 11,594 admissions to Jersey General Hospital where obesity is recorded as a secondary diagnosis.

As obesity is an essential co-morbidity it will be coded on every admission where this is documented. This will not be an indicator of obesity being a reason for care but will give numbers of patients / admissions in which a person has been documented as obese or overweight. Please note that both inpatient and day case admissions are coded – therefore these figures include, for example renal dialysis or chemotherapy patients with a co-morbidity of obesity who attend multiple times per week.
