Request
A
In the last five years what has been the expenditure of each school on supply teachers? I would like to know which schools are employing supply and substitute staff for cover and how much this is costing schools.
B
In the last five years what has been the staff turnover of teaching staff and teaching assistants in each school? I would like to know how many teachers and teaching assistants are leaving each school on a year by year basis and if this is widespread in Jersey.

Please find attached a table representing the expenditure in each Government of Jersey school on supply teachers from 2016 to 2020.
Supply Teacher Expenditure by School 2016 to 2020
These supply costs are for any reason, not just for cover. They exclude costs directly coded to Covid-19 last year, Jersey Premium and non-school areas.
These figures include year-end accruals, internal correction journals, internal credits and long-term sickness credits.
The ’odd’ values for Grainville and Haute Vallee in 2020 can be explained by Long Term Sickness credit being processed for members of staff who were covered by teachers on short term contracts instead of supply.

Please find attached a table representing Teaching staff and Non-Teaching staff leavers and staff turnover in Government of Jersey schools from September 2016 to June 2021.
