Information is publicly available on www.gov.je in response to previous FOI requests. Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied to information up to 30th April 2021.Please see the following link:
Deaths within 28 days of a Covid-19 vaccination - March and April 2021 (FOI)
Further analysis of deaths between 13 December 2020 to 30 June 2021, show 60 deaths occurred within 28 days of receiving a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. These additional three deaths occurred between 13 December and 30 April and have been identified through further work to match the deaths database and the vaccine dataset. For deaths occurring within 28 days of a second dose of the coronavirus vaccine, between 13 December and 30 June, a total of 36 deaths have occurred. This includes two which have been subsequently matched since the publication of the previous Freedom of Information response and six which have occurred in May and June.
To note, this analysis requires the matching of two-different sets of data (the public health deaths database and the vaccine dataset) which do not have a common unique identifier for individuals. As such, an additional 10 matched records have been added to this analysis, of which five occurred within 28 days of a vaccine dose being administered.
