C

What is the current height of Cell 30 - against the surveyed heights and approvals in P/2010/1861.

D

Are the boundaries of Cell 30 the same as those described and approved in P/2010/1861

E

Against the maximum permitted height of +17.5, what is the remaining capacity for storage of Asbestos in Cell 30.

Response

A Cell 30 is the only cell approved for the disposal of hazardous asbestos waste. Packaged asbestos waste was stored in shipping containers until the end of 2016. In 2017 the contents of the containers were transferred into Cell 30 and all subsequent incoming asbestos waste has been received into Cell 30 for permanent disposal.

B

Year Tonnes of asbestos
2013 703
2014 506
20151511
2016653
2017475
2018659
2019587
2020926

C

The last survey carried out in June 2021 indicates that the current cell height is approximately 18m, or +4m

D

No. A subsequent planning application was submitted (P/2016/1647) which included an extension of Cell 30.

E

The remaining capacity of Cell 30 including its extension is approximately 12,000m3 when accounting for containment, intermediate covering and permanent capping.

F

0.48 Tons of visible asbestos debris was removed from the IFC5 site as shown in paragraph six of FOI response below. This was stored in Cell 30.
