Request
I understand that Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Tests carried out by a non-Government of Jersey providers uses Jersey's approved lab (OpenCell). Could the Government of Jersey (GOJ) advise where I can find the confirmation that OpenCell is approved by GOJ and shows “OpenCell” is a UKAS accredited laboratory.
I can find the detail re the Standards and guidance for private providers of COVID-19 testing, however, I can’t find the approved lab listed.
Standards and guidance for private providers of COVID-19 testing
Response
Since 15 September 2020 OpenCell has provided a rt-PCR COVID-19 testing service for the Government of Jersey.
OpenCell testing processes follow the protocols and the international standards and requirements (ISO/IEC 17025) for a testing laboratory, ensuring the provision of accurate and reliable results. The Jersey based OpenCell testing service also went through the necessary clinical quality assurance processes. As such, it can be confirmed by the Government of Jersey that OpenCell is an approved rt-PCR Covid-19 testing provider.
