Request

How many miscarriages have there been in Jersey over the past five years, broken down monthly?

Response

Health and Community Services (HCS) hold data only in relation to the number of  miscarriages that occur within the Hospital setting, and are recorded in the Patient Administration System, TrakCare. The data is represented in the table below;

Year

Miscarriages

2017

<5

2018

<5

2019

9

2020

6

2021

<5

The majority of miscarriages occur outside of the hospital, in the community and are therefore not recorded on the TrakCare (Hospital patient administration system). Therefore, the information is not held.

As the numbers are small, a break down by month will impact on the privacy of individuals and as such, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied. The numbers are, therefore, presented by year.
